St Joseph's College, Pindari

Margaret Rice Place is the new junior campus of St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace, officially opened in mid-2025 as part of the College’s 150th anniversary celebration. Designed by Macksey Rush Architects, the facility expands the College’s primary education offering with collaborative classrooms, a student lounge, and a tiered amphitheatre — all within a contemporary environment that supports a smooth transition into secondary school. Inspired by the Edmund Rice philosophy, the design reflects a strong commitment to holistic development and an inclusive community.

mLight supplied the Ligera 50 linear system in both surface mounted and wire suspended formats. With a high colour rendering index (CRI 90+), it delivers excellent visual clarity and natural colour tones. In the student lounge, surface mounted fittings with a 3000K warm white temperature enhance the calming, welcoming atmosphere, complementing the natural materials and flexible layout.

Classrooms also use the surface-mounted variant, offering bright, focused lighting that supports concentration and visual comfort throughout the day. The amphitheatre features the wiresuspended indirect version, which casts light upward and downward to highlight the timber ceiling geometry while maintaining a warm, immersive ambience. The consistent use of 3000K light across all areas not only ensures visual harmony but also creates a more relaxed, human-centric environment — fostering comfort, focus, and connection in line with the school’s educational vision.
